Hello,
I’m Loony Tu, original creator of the Lunatic Fringe 2024 music video. Of course that’s just my avatar. IRL, I’m just an average professional citizen doing business as usual, and I keep a very low profile. I’d just as soon keep it that way.
Meanwhile, I do have a message to get out, and I’m determined to blast this one out above the din — not because I want any attention on myself, but because I believe it’s a message our world desperately needs to hear at this particular moment in time.
Our global societies are wracked with conflict, but the one thing practically everybody can agree on is that we are at a pivotal point in history. Our civilization is teetering on the edge of a knife. Opposing sides have drawn bright battle lines, and live in completely separate reality bubbles. Everyone else is either trying to figure out how to break the stalemate, or has completely checked out.
This is no time for complacency or apathy. Now is the time for all hands on deck to secure a democratic and compassionate civilization.
But how do we reach a generation of disenchanted and disengaged people and not only get them to believe in the power of coordinated people to make a difference, but inspired to dive in and get involved in making it happen.
I’m suggesting that maybe — just maybe — a stunning, crowdsourced video, set to one of the most epic rock-and-roll anthems of all time, might just be the breakout summer sensation that takes the world by storm and sweeps through the fall election season with massive effect. If young people would just break the perennial pattern of not bothering to vote, and actually get out there en masse, just this once, it would make all the difference in the world.
Not that this video is just about elections or politics. It’s coming from a higher perspective than that. But present-day politics are a stark example of the types of forces represented in this video. The idea is that if we can get a lot of people to watch and reflect on this video, the politics and elections will take care of themselves.
So how do you jump start a movement to fire up the citizenry based on a music video?
